Random detail: Because his parents were never around, he raised his little sister. For the rest of his life, he feels guilt over abandoning her on earth.
Behind the scenes fact: While working on the novel, I kept switching back and forth between Steven, Stephan, and Stephen. It wasn't intentional, I just kept forgetting which spelling I had gone with. Eventually I had to use the find and replace feature to make the spelling of his name uniform.
